You couldn’t have taken my love
not since it was given to you
so you chose to strip me down instead
You started with my eyes
scratching them raw
plucking skin between deft fingers
My lips were next
down the line of my nose
a Cupid’s bow that made Eros hurl
I could not have been trifled with
not since you ripped me apart
shredded every thread of my existence
My limbs torn away from my body
stretched past the seven seas
waves crashing on bare feet
I had wanted to die
Green irises pried open on calloused hands
I was not so fortuitous
