I fear that the darkness
might swallow me whole one day
I watch those shadows
gather in my room
transpiring against that
resplendent sheen I once held
They glow with such an intensity
Those demons
have embers in their eyes
sun rays in their talons
goldmine incisors
And I’m terrified
My nightmares leave me electrified
They harbor
dreadful dreams on me
that sanction no room for reprieve
I have embedded nettings in my home
have become a spider
scudding out of a web
to scuttle out flies
I would become the Devil
in order to rid myself of this luster
Take down heaven
for a smidgen of reprisal
a taste of sanctification
I condemn the light
